Last summer, in August 2024, Atlanta United’s U14 squad traveled to the Netherlands and made history. Competing in the prestigious Greenport International U14 Tournament in ’s-Gravenzande, the young 5-Stripes faced off against some of Europe’s most respected academies. After battling through the group stage and knockout rounds, Atlanta reached the final against Belgian side KRC Genk. With the championship match ending in a scoreless draw, the title came down to penalties—and Atlanta held their nerve. For the first time, the U14s lifted the Greenport trophy, announcing themselves on the international stage.
That victory was especially meaningful, as it came just a year after Atlanta fell short in the 2023 final against Aberdeen FC. In 2024, they came back stronger, proved their growth, and finished the job.
Now, in August 2025, Atlanta United U14 are preparing to return to the Netherlands—this time as the defending champions. The tournament is celebrating its 10th anniversary edition and will feature an even stronger lineup of clubs, including Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, PSV, Feyenoord, Dynamo Kyiv, and more. With 16 teams from across Europe and beyond, it promises to be one of the most competitive editions yet.
The format will see teams split into two groups of eight, with each side playing nine matches across three days. It’s a demanding schedule, designed to test endurance, teamwork, and adaptability. For Atlanta, it’s another opportunity to measure themselves against the best, gain invaluable international experience, and continue developing future stars.
Whether they can repeat last year’s magic remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Atlanta United’s U14s have already proven they belong on the global stage. This August, they’ll be aiming to show it again.
