Chicago Fire FC started off on the right foot with a solid first stand as they managed to beat Nashville SC 1-0.
This was due to the fact that their star winger Philip Zinckernagel scored only 17 seconds into the game, making him the author of the quickest goal in Chicago Fire FC’s history. The winger managed to capitalize on a quick counterattack, which put his side ahead and set the tone for the rest of the game.
Nashville did not give up easily after falling behind and immediately launched a counterattack. They had complete control over possession and outnumbered their opponents inside the penalty box, but each time they failed because the opposition managed to defend well.
The goalkeeper was instrumental throughout the game, making vital saves to help his team maintain the advantage and keep a shutout. Chicago defenders were highly organized and did not allow their opponents to have any clear scoring opportunities despite putting up a lot of pressure.
Despite coming into the game in excellent form, Nashville could not capitalize and conceded what would be their first loss of the season. For their part, Chicago displayed resilience and composed play, managing the game well after an early blitzkrieg.
