A dominant showing at home, Charlotte FC dominated their city rivals Charlotte Independence, running them out of the park with a commanding 6–0 scoreline, thus taking total control of the Queen City derby right from the kick-off.
Having played a hard-fought first period, Charlotte FC scored first in injury time during the first half after Archie Goodwin scored in the 45+1 minute to give his team a 1-0 lead with which to go into halftime.
However, it didn’t take long for the second half to turn into a rout, with Henry Kessler doubling the score in the 60th minute, before Nimfasha Berchimas made it 3 in the 67th minute.
Charlotte FC kept pressing on. David Schnegg scored the fourth goal of the game for Charlotte FC in the 72nd minute, while Kerwin Vargas put away the fifth goal in the 86th minute.
Charlotte FC scored yet another goal in stoppage time from Baye Coulibaly, who scored the sixth goal of the game in the 88th minute to give Charlotte FC an emphatic victory with a scoreline of 6-0.
Even though the Independence suffered a heavy loss, they did not give up until the last whistle blew and remained competitive throughout the game despite being outplayed by a professional MLS team.
