On a night filled with excitement and anticipation, Houston Dynamo saw out a 1-0 victory over LA Galaxy to continue their three-game win streak at Shell Energy Stadium, Houston, Texas. 

FIRST HALF 
In the opening five minutes of the game some fantastic team play from Galaxy gave them an opportunity after Houston defender Lucas Halter made a poor pass that fell to Harbor Miller, who disappointedly puts his shot wide. 

Just four minutes later Houston get a chance of their own as the Galaxy midfield fail to possess the ball and it finds its way to Mateusz Bogusz who gets tackled and Houston get another opportunity at the second attempt with Hector Herrera but another fantastic tackle from the Galaxy defense sees the chance prevented. 

In the 17th minute Houston earns themselves a penalty as Galaxy defender John Nelson pulls down Lawrence Ennali just inside the box. Guilherme Augusto steps up to take the penalty for Houston and with an intelligent run up he slots the ball in the bottom corner to take the lead for Dynamo. 

Houston nearly gets a second as the ball comes across the top of the box for Herrera, who leaves it for Ennali as he lays it off for an unreal outside the foot attempt from Jack McGlynn that sees his shot just barely wide.  

The half is wrapped up as Galaxy defender Jakob Glesnes goes for goal from roughly 30 yards out, but the accuracy doesn’t match the power, and it goes wide. 

SECOND HALF 

Houston opens with the first threatening opportunity of the half as Ennali is found in behind but looks to have been pulled down by Galaxy defender Emiro Garcés. But the referee plays on, and it falls to McGuire who sees his shot saved. 

But after a needed VAR check, the referee gives a red card for pulling back Enalli and after just being substituted at half time Garcés exits the field. 

Now having a one-man advantage Houston continues to apply the pressure that they have had all game. The goalscorer Guilherme then fires a shot from outside the box, but it doesn’t dip enough to find its way on target. 

After consistent dominance from Houston, Galaxy attacker Joseph Paintsil picks up the ball in his own half and carries it forward past two Houston players but in the end his shot is rather uncontrolled and flies over the bar. 

Houston gets another chance in stoppage time through a left footed curler from Agustín Bouzat but a great save from Galaxy keeper James Marcinkowski prevents any further advantage for Dynamo. 

In the dying moments of the game, a reckless tackle from Houston substitute Ibrahim Aliyu finds himself a second yellow card leading to him being sent off.  

Houston now sees victory with a fourth win in a row for the first time since March of 2019. They look to continue their reign of dominance next week against the Vancouver Whitecaps, who will most likely prove to be a major test for this Houston team.
